Brass Monkey

Instagram is a wonderful, wonderful place. Especially when you are constantly looking for new places to drink coffee and eat cake. Like I mentioned in an earlier post I’m trying to work my way through all the tiny cafés Vienna has to offer and so far this is going really well!
This suggestion came my way and I couldn’t be happier.

Brass Monkey is a relatively small café but offers a variety of cupcakes. The coffee selection is a bit more limited than in other cafés but their tea-game is strong. The Staff is incredibly friendly and there’s a ton of magazines and newspapers on the table waiting to be read. I instantly fell in love with the relaxed atmosphere,  chalkboards and colourful tiles of the counter.
The only downside of this place is that (as far as I can tell) there’s no restroom for customers. Which is, if you’re like me and sit around cafés for hours, not ideal at all.

Still, I’m sure I’ll be back. There’s coffee to drink and cupcakes to eat.

Pure Living Bakery

I’ve been at this bakery last summer and already loved it. They make killer iced hazelnut lattes.
They also make killer humus bagels. So good. I’m not kidding.

The bakery is decorated in california beach bar style. It has cute photographs, surfboards, wallpaper and mismatched chairs. In case you haven’t noticed yet, I’m obsessed with mismatched everything. It’s like an instant love with me.

There are two locations of the Pure Living Bakery. One is located in Hietzing and then there’s the Pure Living Bakery Downtown, located in the 7th district. I have yet to visit the Downtown location but if it’s anything like the one in Hietzing, you’re in for a treat :)

And they make super cute latte art. Like, seriously, isn’t this bear awesome?!

Hiddenkitchen

I have started a new project and it’s called “discover as much as you can!”
Basically it’s me trying to discover new places to eat and have coffee and I have a list that seems almost endless. However, if you have suggestions I’m always open to new discoveries!

I spontaneously stopped by the Hiddenkitchen yesterday. Originally I meant to get coffee but then they had all these different kinds of salads and the soup sounded great and I hadn’t eaten yet and oh my God, the food was just delicious!
The couscous salad was to die for and the broccoli-lemongrass soup was just as good.
However, they also have cupcakes, coffee and tea. I’ve also been told that their breakfast is great (this is pretty much on top of my to-do list now!)

If you’re looking for something small, quiet and laid-back then this is your place!

Sally Lunn’s

IMG_3782

Though we didn’t have much time while we were in Bath, we couldn’t help but stop by Sally Lunn’s for afternoon tea. Located in the oldest building in Bath (dating back to 1482) this a quaint, bakery and café (if you want to call it that), full of nooks and crannies.
We were advised to try one of the famous Sally Lunn Buns – kind of a mix between a bagel and a brioche. After much consideration we ordered half a bun toasted and served with clotted cream and jam. That and a pot of tea made for an utterly delicious afternoon snack.

I loved the house and the decorations, I could have spent the entire afternoon there, but sadly, our time was limited. Make sure you have enough time to fully enjoy your meal in this cute little gem!

This autumn I’m trying to make the most of all the things Vienna has to offer. There’s so much to do and see in this city.
Still, having time to myself for lazy mornings and relaxing afternoons will always be important to me and I just cannot deny myself these simple pleasures.

You can find me on Instagram if you’d like.
