Hot tea. Cozy blankets. The sound of rain against your window. Deep sighs. Contentment.
[After having neglected my music collection for a long, long time, I finally managed to find the time to listen and discover new songs and artists. Here’s a mix of new discoveries and old favourites. I hope you enjoy it. If you have music recommendations, please do comment and let me know :)]
It’s been months but I’m finally doing the Frage Foto Freitag (Question Photo Friday) hosted by Ohhh Mhhh again. This time slightly different though.
No pictures this time but you can look here for some autumn themed shots (more to come as soon as I have time to post them :))
Here are five songs I cannot get enough from right now. Some have been favourites for a while now and been my personal soundtrack throughout the summer, others I have just recently discovered (okay, okay, J. forced me to listen to Haim, I confess).
I’ve been introduced to Matt Corby in February 2011 when he played at a Songs from a Room gig I was lucky to attend. I will blog about that experience some time, I’m sure.
I loved his performance. It was so pure and raw and gorgeous. I’ve been following him on and off ever since and I’m really fond of his music.
I’m trying to find joy in simple pleasures more and more every day. However, there are also a lot of things I stumble upon that make me happy. Or things I find by accident. Or things I used to hate but grew to love. I’m such a lucky girl. I truly am.
This morning I was at the university library, studying for my upcoming exams when I decided to text a friend to see if she was up to grab some lunch together. I was hoping we could grab a quick bite to eat because I wasn’t sure if I’d see her before the summer holidays again. She agreed and then asked if I was up to go see Passenger at the Rathauspark because there was supposed to be an impromptu gig happening there. The Rathauspark (a park right in front of the city hall (=Rathaus) is right next to the university. It’s literally only a two minute walk. So we went to the supermarket, bought some salads and drinks and then plopped down in the park, listening to Passenger sing us some songs.
It was truly amazing. I’m not a huge Passenger fan. In fact I know all of two songs. One of them is being played to death by the local radio station and the other one’s a duet with Ed Sheeran. In any case, I was completely blown away. He was funny, cute, charming and humble. He seemed to truly enjoy himself while he was playing, bantered with the crowed, covered a couple of songs and encouraged everyone to join him and sing along. I know I just sat there and sighed because right there, in the middle of this crowd, sitting in the grass at 30°C weather, listening to him sing, I was so unbelievably happy.
Here’s to a summer full of unexpected opportunities. Full of possibilities. Full of joy and fun. A summer in which I hope to grow yet stay a child at heart and take pleasure in… the simple things.
